Doubts And More Rantings

NOTE: More rantings, again. Yes blogs are meant to keep thoughts, even if they are just temporary.

These few days, I've been interviewing potential new SAC members, and some of them were really confident. I remember I was like that during my interview too. I was confident of everything, and never for a second I thought I would fail. True enough I passed. And if you know me well enough, I'm a perfectionist, and confident about most things.

But now, I'm having doubts about studying Med in India. For once in my life I'm actually doubting my own capabilities. There are just too many doubts in my mind now. Can I can cope with Med? And eventually the pressures of being a doctor?

I've been reading a Manipal student's blog, and from what she writes about her tests, its really hard. And as we all know, Med isn't a play-today-pray-tomorrow type of course. It really requires alot alot of time and hard work. Will that be too much for me to handle?

I've also been thinking of wasting 6months and register for the IMU September intake. But I've heard alot about IMU. There are hardly any dissections. If I were to go IMU instead, would that make me a less experienced doctor? Sheng's sister seems to be fine and happy in IMU. Also, IMU is walking distance from my house, so I wouldn't need to leave my home. And I wouldn't need to go India. zzZ

My sister already left for Australia. Celeste and Eilene will be leaving soon. And a whole bunch of my friends are there. By going to India, would I miss out alot? My sister seems to be having fun there. But rationally thinking, MelbU's post grad med isn't a very wise choice. I'll be spending 2 extra years and alot of money. Why am I even thinking about MelbU now. My offer lapsed few weeks ago. zzZ

My whole application process into Manipal was beyond smooth. Today apply, tomorrow interview, and on the spot I got accepted. TWO DAYS ONLY?!! Come on, it's Med course, Vivek took more than half a year to apply for his Med course in Newcastle. Even Philip had to wait so long for his reply from IMU. If mine isn't beyond smooth, what is? After that, many people have been telling me how good India Med is. Is that a sign to show that God is telling me to go for Manipal? But the major problems are appearing now. I can't get my student visa. Is that an opposite sign to show that God doesn't want me to go Manipal? It's just too contradicting. I'm so confused now. I wish God would appear in front of me now and direct me what to do. Things would be so much easier then.

Okay that's enough of ranting. LeeZhien, Sheng and Eilene would have heard enough from me on MSN. Thanks for your time and patience, and sorry for having to listen to my rantings. Of all the advices I got from them, I think Eilene gave me the most precious advice. Just pray and leave everything in God's hands. And that's exactly what I'll do now. I'll just PUSH!! India Student Visa

Warning: Long post ahead. 100% words, much complains and rantings, improper and inappropriate language.

Last Thursday, I took an LRT down to Masjid Jamek, walked all the way to Straits building, which was slightly further than Central Market, only to get my India Student Visa done. When I arrived, the fella in the counter was quite helpful. He checked my application form, then asked for all the necessary documents, and compiled it for me. Then he added this half-an-A4-paper sized interview form on the top of the compiled stack. Then.. HE ASKED ME TO GO TO THE INDIA HIGH COMMISSION (IHC) FOR THE INTERVIEW!! I was like, WTH?? Where in hell is that, and how the hell do I get there?? He pointed to an address on the interview form, IHC was along JALAN DUTA!!! Then he conveniently asked me to take a taxi there. Dam*it la. Can't they just have everything in one place?? Only becoz you all wanna help your taxi drivers meh??

So yesterday, I drove to the India High Commission. Outside the IHC, there was a whole bunch of people waiting. From the looks of it, the bunch consist of taxi drivers, and those lads who will come early, get a ticket number and sell it to you. From far it looked like a mini Hindraf. zZZ.. Parking was ridiculous there, I had to drive up to the housing area just to get a spot to park. Walk all the way back, went through the guard house, walked into the IHC, and BOMB!! I was nearly knocked out by the smell in there~~! It was damn dark, I mean, the lightings were bad, don't get me wrong k.. And the feeling of a Chinese walking in there is like... wearing an Arsenal jersey into a hardcore Liverpool fan club, whose toilet has not been cleaned for ages.

Ok, back to the main line story. I was lining up to get a ticket number. A man who just left the counter was holding number 500+. I raised my head and saw 333 on the electronic board. For a moment my heart stopped. I swear I would have sprayed a whole bottle perfume if I knew this were to happen. Then this young Indian guy and his mum, walked towards an 'Education Department' room by the side, so I followed. PHEW!! No need to wait for the numbers. Talked to the fella in the room, then went to the information counter to summit my application, and you know what she told me?? "India Government is currently holding back all student visas for MBBS and per-med courses. So please call back next Monday and asked if the problem has been solved." WTH!! I was furiously boiling by now. So I called Manipal Melaka, they said the problem is not only Manipal, but all Unis, and they will personally settle the problem by Wednesday. zzZ..

In the mean time, I can't get my student visa done. Wasted 2 mornings of my life. One to get half-an-A4-paper in town, another one to join hindraf. zzZ...

Farewell WaiShan Part1

As most of you would know by now, my biological sister, WaiShan, will be leaving for Melburn Melbourne later. So people who have not said 'bye' to her, may do so before 9.30pm.

I'll blog more about her farewell later. Going to airport soon. Bye people!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILENE JIE JIE

NOTE: I wanted to put 'Happy Valentine's Day' as the post title, but what's Valentines compared to my jie jie?? Haha

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILENE JieJie!! And Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Hope you all have a lovey-dovey Valentine.

Yesterday, we had a surprise for Eilene. The whole idea originated from Sheng, Robin and YeunYi. Then alot of the rest helped out in different areas. Thanks everyone for such great cooperation! We can really start a part-time PR company, with YY as our Chief Entertaining Officer (CEO).

The plan was something like this. Some of us told Eilene we won't be able to make it for her party. Of coz 'us' includes those friends who are really really close to her. The whole point is to make her sad and disappointed that her close friends can't make it for her party. When I got to know that Eilene was already very very sad and sorta giving up already, I was GLAD! It shows that everything is going as planned. I know we're evil, but its fu yok gai （苦肉计）!

"err.. yee3ng.. i dun think u need. BJ gang has got 5 ppl! plus Celeste, Suet Yee, Kiat Jin, me and Karyan already. 10 ppl!! she's sad enough. i chat with her just now... and she's super disappointed! i tak sampai hati to continue la. she's worried that cater food will be wasted. and worries that ppl will start ffk-ing tmr and until now there're still ppl who tell her that they got no transport. and she complained that she shouldn't have called so many ppl cuz she's wasting her credits. =.= she can't be bothered already. she's giving up.. ANYWAY. means she's not suspecting anything and SOMEONE PLEASE VIDEO HER WHEN SHE COMES TO WH'S HSE K!"

So by 5pm, we finished decorating Sheng's car boot and WeiHoong's gate. Everyone stood by with party poppers, anxiously waiting for the arrival for the Birthday Girl.

Sheng called Eilene, told her a really rediculous creative story of ChinYuen driving his car and crashed into the tiang lampu outside WeiHoong's house, and now she's crying. So Eilene rushed to WeiHoong's house after picking up some friends from LRT station. And to her surprise..

After the surprise, we packed up the mess we made, and went over to Eilene's house. There we ate, talked and of coz sang song+cut cake. We also played cards. What card game did we play again?? Haha..

Just for the record, the SURPRISE banner was done by a group of dedicated people one day before the event. They endured calls and nags from their parents, and stayed till 12am just to finish off the banner. They are non other than the BJ GANG!! I think they really deserve some appreciation. Sheng and YeunYi did the most of coz, followed by HannJiunn and Robin. I got to admit, I hardly helped. xD

Ex-WMS House Hopping VIDEOS

"next! ckm's surprise is after wei hoong's.. maybe we put it 30 mins apart for preparation time.. ckm leaves for japan around 9 so have to be done around 8.. we're gonna bring him a cake! the cake is so special hor.. dat the whole cake is ACTUALLY CREAM! XD hahahahha!!!! so he blow his cake without knowing its cream.. and den he will let us smash his face on the cake.. thinking its just a normal cake with a thin layer of cream.. XD haha and den followed by splashes of coke on his face! OWNED!"

Ex-WMS CNY House Hopping

First and foremost, I know its very late already, but I would still want to thank everyone for attending this House Hopping! You have no idea what YeunYi would do if we cancelled it. And I would also like to thank the drivers, namely Sheng, WeiHoong, JiaMun, YeeEng, MayLing, Mings and LeeZhien. I was supposed to drive too, but Sheng replaced me. Thanks, and sorry I couldn't help with the last minute preps.

I'll assume you've read all of them. So to do something different, I'll blog from a sick person's point of view!! On the 31st January 09, 6th day of CNY, we organised this Ex-WMS house hopping trip. We always wanted to have smth like this, but it never really happened, until this year! Anyway, my fever got better, but I still wasn't feeling very well. Early in the morning, 6.30am, there was a surprise in my room for my belated bday. I'll talk more on that in the next post.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were late. So we, the BJ+Cheras gang rushed to the Mobil station to meet up with the rest. Then we went to YeeEng's house. And if you want to sit in Ming Yi's car, you better buy more insurance. I bet the rest really enjoyed gambling and eating. I just sat on the couch, tried to sleep but couldn't. Darn headache. Oh yea, SuetYee wasn't feeling well too! I wasn't the only one! We lousang-ed here, I'll post up a video post containing all the videos soon.

After that, we went to WeiHan's house. I was really looking forward to his house, coz he has NEVER invited us to his house before. Not even once. So called 5-years-heng-dai. Here, I was feeling a little better. While the rest were playing piano and gambling, I watched Gundam 00 epi 16 on WeiHan's laptop. Well that episode wasn't that interesting. Anyway, we didn't stay long in WeiHan's house becoz we were kinda behind schedule already.

From Selayang, we took Federal Highway to LeeZhien's house. Here they ordered pizza for lunch. By this time, I was practically dead already. I sat on the sofa and fell asleep very fast. That's why you'll see my sleeping pictures in facebook and certain blogs. So my memory here was kinda blanked. Haha, sorry LeeZhien!

Duet-ing

We were SUPER behind schedule by now, so we had no choice but to skip Mings' house. Sorry yea. The Mings were so angry that they ditched us. had family dinner, so they had to go home. On the brighter side, I was feeling very well after my noon nap. So I decided to drive JiaMun's car to Eilene's house. Thanks JiaMun! On the way back to Federal Highway, WeiHoong and myself got lost. We missed the traffic light, the rest just went on without waiting for us. MayLing's fault lo.. she was in front of me. So we did a few turns, made a few calls, and we finally got back on Federal. From here, I knew the way to Cheras, and with Eilene in the same car, I drove SAFETLY to Eilene's house.

We didn't do much here. Most of them were already half dead by now. House tour, lepak, chit chat, some played basketball, then we went off to WeiHoong's house. I saw Robin in the driver's seat of Sheng's car, I quickly hopped in the back seat! Walao, wa ka lu kong hor, Robin reversed out of a T-junction without looking at cars, in addition to that he pressed the accelerator while reversing. @.@

Look and Sheng's hands. The fear of death can be really frightening. LOL

WeiHoong's house was 3mins away from Eilene's. Since I've been here before, I went straight up to WeiHoong's room to sleep. Of coz I asked his permission la! The guys were chatting in WeiHoong's room, while the girls stayed downstairs. After a short 30mins stay, we left to our final destination, i.e Robin's house! And I drove JiaMun's car again coz she was lazy to drive. Her car is still in one piece ok! I'm an extremely safe driver.

As for what happened in Robin's house, will be in the next post, together with all the surprises we had, for WeiHoong and for me. Well mine wasn't really a surprises thanks to Brian Yeoh. So stay tuned for more pictures and videos!!

Overall, I think the entire house hopping trip was really really great. Its nice to have 6 cars and 25ppl travelling all around KL+Selangor. We should do this more often. But I doubt we'll have the change to. Everyone is going everywhere for every known reason. Good luck and all the best everyone!

Home Sweet Home

I'M BACK FROM JAPAN!! Gosh I miss the Internet and my bed soooo much.

Japan was great overall. Bought ALOT of Gundams, including 1/100 scaled 00-Raiser. I can't wait to have 1 full free day to assemble it. W00t!

On the other hand, I'll be super busy checking my emails. 8 days without the net and I got 77 unread msgs. And sorry YeunYi for not replying your email any sooner. The Internet there was really slow like shit.

Eh Sheng! I finally saw my new dog. Damn cute wei. Its a poodle, but its abnormally big for a poodle. Nevertheless its still a good dog. It runs up and down non-stop, and it can really run fast. Everyone, please welcome the latest member in my family!!

Happy Birthday To Me

As most of you would know, today is my 18th bday! Cheers to myself! And how did I spend this auspicious day?

As you can see, there is a iced-towel roll, aircond remote, water, tissue paper and medication. Does that need more explanation?

I've been down with high fever since yesterday morning. After taking 6 effect-less panadols through out the whole day, I finally went to visit the doctor at night. The common package again, flu, cough, and a 39'C fever. Is that high? No idea, but it does sound high to me.

Today, I slept in the whole day. My fever got much better around 7pm, therefore I decided to wake up and blog. I had so much time to think what to write, till the extend that my fingers are typing faster than my brain can process. zzZ

Remember how I was saying I was darn looking forward to the house hopping trip? Looks like I'll have to give it a skip. Haih..

On the brighter side, thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. MSN, Facebook, and SMS. You know who you are. And sorry for replying so late. My HP expired yesterday and I only reloaded 5mins ago. I replied as soon as I reloaded already k. Haha

What a day for an 18th bday rite? Well at least I spent the entire day doing my hobby i.e SLEEP!! Haha. And facing the comp with fever adds on quite a fair bit of headache. Time to hit the bed, again. Tata..

Last Thursday, I went back to Taylors to help SAC with their ECA day. I must say it was an enjoyable time. All SACians wore our orange AdventuRUN crew shirt.

Putrajaya

NOTE: Long post of complains ahead.

Today morning, my sister and I went to Putrajaya to submit some documents to get this 'Sijil Sokongan Luar Negara', which is needed to complete my Manipal registration.

I never knew Putrajaya was that big. The map looked really simple, but it wasn't as simple as it seemed.

I had to get to Parcel E, as seen in the above map. When we finally got in the red Parcel E zone, there were so many blocks of buildings, starting from E1 till E9. I needed to get the E9, so as expected it was the deepest most innest building. Parking system sucks here. Cars just simply double park along the road. Malaysia Truly Asia..

We walked in E9, traded my driving licence for a visitor's pass, then went up to 2nd floor. OMG I tell you this place is so creepy. There were so many doors, and all the doors looked like those storeroom/emergency exit doors. I had no idea which door to enter. Luckily some people passed by and we got help from them. So I was brought to the door, and I went in, another counter. I happily opened my file, and started to gather my documents and passed it to the makcik there. Then the following conversation took place..

"Saya ada beberapa dokumen yang perlu disahkan dulu."

*She gave me that wth-look..

"Kami hanya terima dokumen saja."

"Errr... Siapa boleh sahkan untuk saya?"

"Pergi blok E8, dokumen boleh disahkan di sana."

"O-k-a-y.. Siapa nama orang yang boleh sah dokumen?"

"Pergilah kaunter sana."

I was like W-T-H is wrong with the people here la!! So with a very fake smiley tone I sarcastically told her "Ok saya akan datang lagi makcik!"

I remember seeing Block E8 when I was driving down. It was just round the corner. So we walked to the corner, made the left turn, and.. OMG so many flights of stairs. Apparently it was quite a slope. Ok nvm, we walked all the way there, not very far, just a block away. Went to the customer service room. It was a cold cozy looking hall with 5 counters and 5 penguins workers, without any customers. All 5 pairs of eyes were staring straight at the plasma LCD screen in the middle of the hall. Getting the documents to be certified was fast. The lady there didn't even bother to check with my original. Just a glance through, and certified it for me. Nice.

Back to E9, went in, "Makcik saya dah balik!", then passed everything to the her. She went through my forms and documents, then..

"Semua dah ok. Bagi kami masa 7 hari bekerja, lepas tu call kami."

*Points to a paper..

"Sini nombor dan beritahu maklumat-maklumat ini."

"O-k-a-y..."

"Hari ini 19hb"

*She brings out a calender, and uses her pen to point at the dates..

"satu, dua, tiga, empat"

*Then she stares at me..

"7 hari bekerja, cuti am tak kira"

*She skipped the whole Chinese New Year break, and continues after that..

"lima, enam, tujuh.. call kami pada 30hb"

I was like WTeff man. My offer's lapse date is 29th Jan and you're telling me that 1 piece of shit takes seven working days to prepare and will only be ready after the 30th. Deng..

Now I'll need to call Manipal to ask if they would be kind enough to extend my offer's lapse date. zzZ. Damnit la. MALAYSIA tak BOLEH!!

Ice Skating

NOTE: Recently I've got the habit of blogging early in the morning. When I say early, I mean really really early. Gah who cares la, I'm a midnight person.

Yesterday, we went Sunway Pyramid for ice skating. We were supposed to meet there around 1pm, but since we had to pick KaiXin up, and her classes only end at 1pm, we thought we would be the last to reach. To our surprise, we were the first. We even had time to eat lunch.

I gave Sheng a ring when we arrived. That was around 1.30pm already, and guess where was he? "CC!! CC!! CyberCafe!! I'm in JS with LeeZhien now, coming already." zzZZ, nevermind, more time to makan lunch. Eilene and ChinYuen arrived shortly. And after lunch, Sheng called again at 1.55pm. "Driving now, leaving Taylors." WTH!! Great time concept man. Oh yea, I kam-ed his calls twice.

So after all the conflict, we managed to start skating around 2.30pm. I'm proud to say I didn't fall today =D !! And Sheng banged into the same girl, not once, but TWICE!! Why? Lol.

YeunYi fell like a hundred and one times, yet she still can laugh until so siu sa. Haha. Keep up the spirit!! Eilene was the pro la of coz, no doubt about that. (I badly wanna post up THAT picture but I'll be a good didi and not post it k..) WaiShan was the taxi service. ChinYuen and KaiXin would raise their hands by the entrance, like how you stop a taxi, and WaiShan will be there to 'drag' them around the ice rink. KaiXin, I don't know her. Especially when she starts to scream in the middle of the rink. LOL!!

Melaka Manipal Medical College

Melbourne U is really slow in processing applications. IDP told me on Saturday that if I don't get an offer in 3 days, it'll be unlikely that I'll get already. So I had to scout for other options for Medicine course.

Saturday, MaeYee passed me Manipal's Medicine prospectus on Taylors SAM Award Presentation day. It looked sorta O-K-A-Y, so we went to Star Education Fair the very next day to apply. To my surprise the lady told us that my interview will be 'tomorrow', which is Monday.

Yesterday morning, my uncle went with me to Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC) for a written test and an interview. We left my house close to 6am, and reached MMMC around 7.30am. The campus looked kinda cool, the students were all wearing that doctor's coat thing, rushing here and there, even those in the canteen ate in 5mins and ciao-ed. I fell asleep in the canteen as I only slept 1hour the previous night. (No, I was not afraid of the interview. I slept too long in the evening.)

Written test started at 9am. They gave 1hour to write an essay about yourself. I finished in 20mins, I am me, nothing much to write. After 1 whole hour, they didn't collect the paper. A lady brought us outside the interview room and we waited there. I was 2nd on the list. The wait was really long, at least 30mins, I actually dosed off sitting there. zzZ

When it was finally my turn, the panel asked for the written test paper, and my certificates. I was like, "Har? Certs? I didn't bring wor, I only brought the recent ones" which were all craps. They asked all sorts of very general and expected questions. Then when they asked about medical attachment, I said no, and I could see their face change. GG.COM.MY/ZOMG/DIE

Upon coming out of the room, they told me to see a Ms Shella 30mins later for my results. So I waited, waited, talked to other applicants. Apparently there were some other Taylor's SAM students too. And I heard from them that a friend with TER70+ got in Manipal. I was like "WHAT?!!". Talk about quality doctors of the future. Most of the other SAM applicants yesterday had TER of 80+.

30mins later, Ms Shella appeared, and I got my offer! I was really happy, I thought I screwed up my interview. On the way back to KL, I was driving at 170km/h when IDP called to say Melbourne U has given a full offer for Bachelor of Biomedicine. Damn..

So now I'm left with 2 choices, I'm really really lazy to apply any other unis. Manipal twins to India, but its ALOT cheaper and faster than MelbU's med. If I choose Manipal, I'll save 2 years, and hellalot of money. But heck its India. (Btw, no offence to indian readers.) Manipal wouldn't be that bad, would it?

Due to popular misunderstanding, MMMC twins with Kasturba College in Manipal. 2.5years in India, and 2.5years in Melaka. You want all 5 years in India meh?? I don't want lo.. @.@
